Academic Integrity and COVID-19 for Students
As our institution moves instruction online for the remainder of the semester, we would like to take this opportunity to highlight the value of academic integrity and its central role in the learning process. Instructors have been working diligently to ensure the best possible learning experience for you in an online setting. Your corresponding responsibility as a student is to complete your work in an honest fashion, upholding the expectations your individual instructors have for you in this regard. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that you learn the content in your courses in accordance with UB’s academic integrity principles, regardless of whether instruction is live or online. Thank you for upholding your own personal integrity and ensuring UB’s tradition of academic excellence.
- UB’s academic integrity policy applies no matter the delivery method of instruction. Online learning environments still adhere to the policy.
- As always, if you are charged with an Academic Integrity infraction, you must meet with your instructor within 10 academic days. However, in light of COVID-19 challenges, this meeting may be conducted via WebEx, FaceTime, Skype, or another suitable technology. This meeting is meant to give the student and the faculty the ability to discuss the situation face-to-face. A phone call is acceptable only if a video call is unavailable.
- If you are eligible for a remediation assignment offered through the Office of Academic Integrity, your two meetings may be conducted via WebEx, FaceTime, Skype or another suitable technology. More information regarding these meetings will be available as they are scheduled through the Office of Academic Integrity.
